Several groups share responsibility for promoting economic development in the region.

Lower Columbia Initiatives Corporation (LCIC) is an excellent first point of contact. Our mission is to drive economic development in the Lower Columbia.


Lower Columbia Community Development Team Society
(LCCDTS) members include business leaders, municipal and regional politicians, as well as representatives from organizations and groups with an interest in the social and economic development in the region.

Community Futures of Greater Trail fosters entrepreneurship. They offer programs, training, business counseling, business loans, and business resource material. Community Futures also coordinates and implements a variety of economic development initiatives.

The Kootenay Association for Science and Technology, or KAST as it is known locally, works to advance science, technology and innovation by stimulating entrepreneurial development. They are an excellent resource. Their Mentorship and Business Assistance program includes a suite of free services for companies in the region that are technology-centric, or innovative in their processes, products or services.

Columbia Basin Trust works to promote the social, economic and environmental well-being of people affected by the Canadian portion of the Columbia River Treaty. They partner with local organizations to deliver a range of programs that will benefit Basin residents.

The Trail & District Chamber of Commerce is a strategic partner and a valuable resource for business in our thriving communities.
